Howdy, first try with plants.
The tank:
54g glass quarter cylinder
fluval 404 cannister
eco-complete substrate
stealth 200watt heater
30" sunpod with a 10k bulb

Plants:
1 microsword
3 ozelot swords
1 baby dwarf grass
1 broad leaf ludwigia
3 bronze wendth
1 telanthera
2 red wendth
couple of other ones i can't remember

I added 9 cardinal tetras 2 weeks after I set the tank up and they all seem happy very active especially with the plants.

Got a question, I wanted to inject CO2, are 2 DIY kits sufficient or is a pressurized system required? Is there a rather compact system I can buy? Also someone mentioned that I can use a DIY kit as long as I place the diffuser near a small power head. What kind of fertilizer should I use? What are the ideal water parameters I'm looking for as far as Nitrate, Nitrite are concerned? Any suggestions are appreciated.

the diy kit will do nicely, they can run for several weeks without changing the yeast... just look it up, there are several great threads on this site

It will look great when it grows in, I like your arangement, it's natural without looking like you just put stuff where ever. I'd get some java fern or java lace to compliment your driftwood, though.
