hey all, i have a 75 gallon reef tank right now running w/ 8 36 watt t-8 bulbs. In the tank i have green button polyps, flame polyps, orange riccordea (which is growing like wildfire), purple mushrooms, a cup pagoda, and galaxea. all of which are doing absolutely wonderful! I will be moving shortly and am looking to upgrade my lighting. I was either looking at this or this I plan on keeping an anemone (most likely a rose anemone), some clams (probably crocea, maxima, and derasa), and some lps (not sure what yet). which setup should i go with and has anyone ever done business with aquauniverse before and how are they?

I would suggest the higher metal halide wattage - you can always adjust the intensity on the tank by raising the light nearer or farther from the surface. This will give you better flexibility for the corals you want to keep. Some clams also require high intensity lighting and can easily outgrow even a 75 gallon tank. I am not a big proponant of keeping anemones. They are touchy and when people talk of success, they are usually talking in months rather than years. They can also molest corals as they travel around a tank looking for just the right spot. However, the best bet is the rose anemone if you decide to get one. For the sake of your existing corals, remember to take your time as you transition from your old light to the higher intensity of the new one. Good luck and give us before and after pics!

Another advantage of the 250 watt setup is there are more kinds of lamps available for 250 watt vs 150 watt ballasts. It will allow you to choose your spectrum more easily.

thanks guys, thats what i was thinking was to go with the 250 watt unit. i will be sure to post some pics after the move is made :)
