Is this a deadly combination? If not, how best to keep both in a 55g...how many of each? I just can't make up my mind between these. What if the gouramis where the dwarf peaceful type, would that be better, or still a problem?

Thanks,
Fernando

You can do it, but it isn' the best pairing. They will fight sometimes. The best way to do it is to have very few of both, to reduce the chances of them fighting, IMO you should just stick to one or the other, so you can have two or three of one, opposed to one of each.

You are derscribing one of my tanks. It's a 50 gl, planted (15 vallisneria, 4 swords and some other). It houses 2 blue gouramies, 2 pearl, 2 paradise fish and 2 angels. There is also a whiptail catfish I almost never get to see, 3 albino cories, 1 shrimp and 1 crayfish.

The angels are always fighting among them, but only among them. The gouramies all live their lives without harrasing any other fish.

In the past, this was different when the tank had no plants, so the male gourami that happened to settle a territory would chase the others, but since the plants came, the harrasment stopped.

However, if I had another 50 gl tank, I'd separate the gouramies from the angels.

If you dont have one in there already, get a peice of driftwood. My whiptail LOVES it and spends most of his time stuck to it so now I get too see him almost all of the time.

There is enough boogwood (2 large pieces) He passes most of his time sucking the vallisneria leaves, so he stays hidden pretty much the time. But, with a little deep-eye techniques, I find can find him. Thnaks
:look:

My 6 angels have a snakeskin gourami in the tank, with no signs of aggression between them.
