I have a wet/dry trickle filter for 75 gal tank. It now work using siphon between the overflow box like shown below,

But now I want to place a very small power to move the water from the tank straight into the overflow as shown below,

Is this feasible? Do you see any flaw in this methods?
The only problem I see is incase of a failure in the water pump pulling the water from sum into the tank; causing a flooding in the sump.

The reason I want this design is so that I can draw water from the bottom/middle/top of the tank depending on the placement of the powerhead.

What do you guys think?

It looks like the overflow will spill over onto the floor if the flow to the sump slows down.

If all you want is to move water from the floor of the tank, then there seem to be 2 options.
-Use a powerhead or two to move water from the bottom to the top of the tank, either aiming down from the top or up from the bottom.
-Have the output of the powerhead go to the first section of the overflow. If there is a failure, the water goes back into the tank.

[not ignoring you email, it just requires some thought]

I think you will end up with a lot of water on the floor.

If there is plenty of circulation in your tank (and circulated at different depths, it should't matter where the water is drawn from. However, Mogurnda's idea is a less risky way to accomplish what you want.

if its a marine tank get the trickle filter out of there, its not doing you any favours, replace that with micro or macro algae

there are safer ways to do this, use longer j-pipes ( u-pipes that are longer on one side ) , or jsut use that power head to push the water around to keep your water from getting stagnent

i'll be doing somthing simular thought, but using a power head to push water to my refugium then haveing an over flow runing from the refugium to my sump this way if the power head shuts off theres no worry of flood or my tank not getting filtered

if you sump was above your tank it could work well, other then that your going to have water all over your floor sooner or later, as your sump pump and the power head work at diffrent speeds, your sump pump one will run dry and burn out

just my 2.5 cents worth
