*Pleae Help! Urgent* Is it a good idea to use a canister filter on a FOWLR system?

I'm about to go trade for a RENA XP1 and I'm wondering if I leave the filtration media out, maybe put some biological media in there, if it will help my system? I figured the spray bar and the water going back into the aquarium would help oxygenate it. I know that they can have nitrate problems in a marine system, but what if I kept on top of cleaning it out? Would that help? What if I used nitrate removers in the filter?

Let me know what you think! I'm about to go pick it up now.

I'd go for it, I use an XP2 on my 65g and love it. I use bio media and sponges on all my tanks, and have no problems with NO3; macro takes care of it along with PO4.
After a month or so I noticed that the sponges in my canister were collecting more than detritus - they're crawling with pods and covered in little 'Q-tip' sponges, so the canister is acting as a 'dark fuge' in a way. I change the carbon and rinse the sponges out once a month, then collect the amphipods on the bottom of the bucket to feed the fish, but other than that I pretty much leave it alone.
