hi I purchased a Coralife 24" unit for my 20 gallon and the 1x65 watt bulb was blown tonight when I got home.

It lasted only one week.

I ordered from Dr Foster and Smith online, do you think they will help?

I will have to go fork out some cash for a new bulb in the meantime though :( but I feel like I got owned.. $25 bulb on a $50 unit only lasted a week........

I'm panicking because I have plants on the way and I'm going to be out of town for the weekend!

They are going to send me a replacement bulb that is 10,000 because they do not have any 6,700 bulbs left....

Will that work?

Problem is that it will not be here for almost 2 weeks! So I think I will have to go get a replacement anyways grrr and it will cost me as much as an entire new light online :(....I should have just got the light from my LFS, it would have ended up costing me less in the long run....They want over $40 + 8% tax for the replacement....

Don't panic; plants can survive a few days with suboptimal lighting (or even no lighting). HelloLights stocks several brands of 6700 K lights which will work in your fixture; they go for about $25 plus shipping. I've purchased from them before, and it sure didn't take them 2 weeks to get the bulb to me. Why not give them a call? You don't have anything to lose!

(Buy 2 bulbs while you're at it; then you'll always have a spare on hand in case the one in use burns out unexpectedly.)

well I got the replacement bulb today, 10,000k

Took it out of the box and somehting was ratteling inside the light.

Needless to say this one does not work either...

So back to waiting again, I definately appreciate Dr Foster and Smith sending replacements, but I would have been beter off purchasing the light for $30 more from the LFS...

I hope the next replacement works.

4 Bulb on the way...

So I got the second Replacement, Bulb had something ratteling in it this time as well...Before I even plugged it in.

Called them back and they are sending me a 4th replacement bulb and are going to test it before they send it.

I just put new plants in the tank and they are not taking very well with under 2WPH, I hope they can make it a few more days...

I borrowed a 28 watt light from my 10 gallon to keep the plants in my 20 alive, but all the plants in the 10 gallon are now melting...

At least Foster and Smith are shipping replacements, however at this point I just want a light that works!

Go to a Lowes or Home Depot and get yourself a temporary Daylight tube for about $5....keep it as a backup when your replacement bulb arrives.

Lowes nor Home Depo sell 21 inch 65 Compact Flourecent Lights AFAIK.

All they are sending me is a 10,000k bulb anyways since they are out of stock on 6700K :(

My Coralife FW 24" 65W light has acted up from time to time and just won't light. Once I remove the bulb and reinstall it it comes on. Try that before you blame the bulb. It's quite possible you just have a bad connection.

I got the 4th bulb today it does not work either.

All bulbs have something ratteling inside when they ship them so I believe it is from a blown bulb.

They are sending me return shipping and I am going to send everything back. This is ridisulous, I appreciate there return policy but I am skeptical to order anything fragile from them again.

In the meantime does anyone know where I can order the coralife light where I might actualy recieve one that works?

They want $90 at the LFS, and $40 for each bulb or I would just get one there. The entire light was $50 online...
