Hi all, haven't been here since '99 and wow it has changed. Everything is high-tech!
Anyway and how, I am thinking about starting a fish only saltwater setup with a moray eel as the sole occupant. I have a 29 gal that served as a great starting home for many of my favorite freshwater 'tankbuster' critters such as a clown knife (started at 4inches and grew to 3ft), an african lungfish (started at 3inches and grew to over 3ft), an electric eel, walking catfish, white piranha, aba aba, snake head and recently two koi.
As with every fish I have kept, I like to get them small so I can have the joyful experience of watching them grow.
I was thinking about a snowflake eel as a start since the green moray very quickly will out grow any home tank (there was a six inch green moray at the local pet store for 100 bucks, man, did I have a major fight with temptation). Then I heard of the 'smaller' species of morays such as the pencil, goldentail, and the white ribbon. And the list is growing.
So if anyone has anyone has any moray experiences and aquarium requirement info, (is an UV sterilizer neccessary?) please share.
Thanks
ps. There is a monster in every lake!
