hi,

i have heard talk of moonlight flourescents but how do they work?

from what i've read, fish are supposed to be unable to recognize certain parts of the light spectrum..

if i want to have a moonlight for my tank, what spectrum should i be looking for?

i have some concerns as i have a planted tank.. don't want to upset the day/night cycles that i'm currently maintaining in my aquarium.

(read about 'miraclebeam' laser lights on the web.. are they recommended?)

would appreciate any input on this..

thanks!

Theres moonlighting, and nightlighting.

Moonlighting is used with a blue or white bulb, and intensity is changed throughout the months as to follow the lunar cycle.

Nightlighting is done with a red bulb usually, and is left on all night. Most fish can not see red light.

Also, I have heard of Blue Moons. I think these are actually Actinic bulbs used in saltwater set-ups..
