You need a much bigger tank before you consider keeping them.

Slip is right. They grow to 10 inches or so and need AT LEAST a 90 gallon tank. A 125 would be much better for them. They are also a brackish fish and require a brackish tank. There have been MANY posts on this fish in the past several weeks on this forum. Check out all those posts and go from there.

I think that they need a full marine set up when they're full grown as well. We sell that at my LFS (unfortunately), but they are fun to watch. All fish will pig out, especially cats, but these guys are unbelievable. They actively compete with the giant danios they're with (which is saying something). If I had the means to set up a large brackish tank, these guys would definantly be the centerpiece.

I work at a lfs where I live called Aquasphere and we will not sell these fish. They really shouldn't be kept in captivity, but there are far worse fish that we are keeping in captivity.

Like stated above they need a large tank, and go from brackish to full marine. You will find out when they get larger that they will start to swim frantically in the tank, which is a sign to start increasing your salt level. Unfortunatly this is stressing the fish so you should be increasing before this happens. I keep mine at 1.14- 1.16 and am seriously looking for a larger tank this summer.
