If it is up to All-Glass specs, it is, in reality, 7488 Cubic Inches. Its dimensions are: L48"xW13"xH12"

AntmanMike, where did you find that info?
AntmanMike

All-Glass. Assuming it is an All-Glass tank of course.

You cant tell what size tank it is just by that measurment.
It could be 30 breeder, a regular 30, or a 33 long...
7,560 doesnt match up to any of them.
Heres the AGA list of tanks- http://www.all-glass.com/products/aquariums/standard.asp

Since it is 32.7 I am guessing it is 33 gallons... since it rounds pretty close. its not exact though. Plus the fact that tanks are always a bit lower than marketed value, I assume its 33.

Technically the 30 breeder holds more water than the 33 long.

Thats what I mean, how did you get the info on the cubic inches?
AntmanMike

Die!
Ill go look at the dimensions and find standard capacity.

33 Gallon: 7488 in^3
30 Gallon Breeder: 7766 in^3
7,560 sounds a lot like an over-marketed 33 gallon.

As I said, we need to know how long the tank is. :D

Anyway... I just e-mailed All-glass to ask them how many cubic inches my tank is.
slipknottin
03-10-2003, 9:36 PM
you could just multiply up the length * width * height...
AntmanMike
03-10-2003, 9:36 PM
nonono... its listed on their site, the dimensions. Just multiply them.

not that simple. it's a bow front. If you had been here a few weeks ago, we were debating hot to find the cubic feet
slipknottin
03-10-2003, 9:52 PM
Simple. The tank is 72 gallons, 16632^3. Just take 72 and multiply by 231.
The non-bow front part of the tank is 12x48x18, right? Thats 44 gallons. That means the bow part is 28 gallons. The length of it is 48" and the height is 18" that means the bow is 7.45" deep.
Thats 10368 for the non bow part, and another 6436 for the bow.
Comes out to ~16800.

I can do that if you find me X, Y, and Z (inches):

slipknottin

X is 18, Z is 48, and Y is 12.
The tank is 18" high.

Its not that easy... you have to remember that it is normally over-marketed. There are other variables also... though if everything was perfect and exact your method would work. Find me those measurements and i can find you your near-exact in^3.

I subscribe to the "its close enough" method of thinking. :D

I screwed up my calculations somewhere cuz i am getting... 10054 cubic inches... which is wrong.

7,560 cu. in. * (1 cu. ft. / 1728 cu. in) * (7.48 gal / 1 cu. ft.) = 32.7 gallons
That's just going off of the volume given. As for the actual dimensions of the tank... I have no idea.
kaotic

As for the 72... you just have to work the equation the other way. You will have roughly 16,633 cu. in. in a 72 bow.

Man, I am having flashback like I just stumbled into 9th grade Geometry class

Well, I can admit I'm bad at math...
Did the tank come with a label on the glass stating the gallons of water it holds?
Look at the other tanks nearby, do they look like $50 tanks?
HTH

LOL.....i got the measurments on it.... it a Hexagon tall. i think this mite help a little bit. is 24 inches deep. 24 inches across(going this way_______ for u that dont know :)) and from front to back its 21inches. this mite help some ;). i dont know if the 7,560 is right or not. i tried to figure it out for myself but i got a headache more then an answer i think..... but they may be wrong:D . o yeah i dont know if this matters but each little "side of the hexagon is 11 1/2 inches.

The internal dimensions of each side will be 11 inches, assuming it is a regular hexagon.
The area of a regular hexagon is:
(3*sqt3/2)*sidelength^2
Approximates to 2.598 times the side length squared.
Then multiply this area for height. so for an 11 inch internal side
Base Area
11*11*2.598 = 315 inches^2
Volume
315*24 = 7560 inches^3
Hope that helps.

I use AGA 33 gallon tnks to grow out my fry the dimensions are 36"x12"x18" = 7,776ci /231 = 33.662337 gallons

Yea, my 72g. Why is he number so low? Maybe they thought I meant surface area of the tank?
