Will my ADF dehydrate...

I have an ADF that like to sit atop a foating plastic plant such that his back is exposed to the air though his underside remains wet. I have just recently noticed that he does this, and he has been fine so far, but I am afraid that he could harm himself. The area seems to stay moist, but could the frog dry out and not know it? I would think not, but then again...

i have two ADF's male and female and my male does this often, (on top of my filter inside the tank or on some really tall cabomba plant leaves) i would think that they would know when they would like to submerge into the water. is he able to go freely as he pleases? no obstructions in his way? just make sure he can't escape and i'd say that's normal as it constantly happens to mine and i've had him for almost 2 weeks with no problems hope that helps :D
 
I would think its fine - mine have done this, and my firebelly newts sometimes stay totally out of the water for an hour or more (they are almost fully aquatic like ADFs). When they need to go back in the water they will.
 
How is your water quality? As you probably know, ADFs typically try to "escape" poor water conditions.
 
water's fine. everything is 0. the other one doesn't do it. This one like to be at the top regardless...he floats there without plants. He knows the food comes from there, and he used to have to fight fish off to eat. perhaps it's habbit.

Hi all...update:
Frog seems to have a fungal thing on his nose...perhaps that is why he's been at the top of the tank. I am treating the water with Fungus Cure.

It started with a whitish bump on his nose, that I thought was from dive bombing the ground. Hope it works.
