I am preparing to house some coral in my tank. Right now I have green algae bloom that I am trying to remedy. So things are on hold.

I have an aqua clear 70 for flow right now. It works fine but I need to increase the flow. I have narrowed my search down to the following PHs.

Maxi jet (1200): Small compact but less power than my aqua clear
Seio(820): Like the multidirectional feature more power than maxi jet
Mag 7(??): could not find info on this but I see the name come up a lot
Aqua clear(70): I've got it. I like it. Been working for more than 1 year

I don't want to crowd the tank with PHs. Just looking for one (preferably) or 2 more PHs. So power and effeciency is what I'm lookin for.
I'm leaning towards the Seio, because of power and multi-direction flow.
What's your opinion?

I am also considering changing my protein skimmer. I'm looking for one I can hang off my sump. Sump wall is about 12" high. Any pointers there would be appreciated also.

whatever PH setup that gets you 5x plus water turnover per hour, but no rios, some people on here have said that they leak oils into the water (no good). it would also be a good idea to have 2 powerheads that are the same with the outputs directed toward each other, this way you will produce variable current in the tank.

I like a lot of currents in my 25g reef. I have an empty aquaclear300 and 3 powerheads in the tank in various positions and levels to keep a good flow from all angles around, through, above and behind my live rock.

not sure if the ones listed are reliable, but I usually don't worry about that too much. 5 tanks makes it kind of hard to be picky.

I went with the Seio 820. More power than the other PHs I mentioned.
Also most of the headaches (pump freezing) were with the larger Seio 1100. Most folks with 820 had no complaints. I arrived yesterday on Saturday. I'll be plugging it in tomorrow (couldn't do it on Mother's day)

Thanks for your suggestions.

Update:
I must say I am not impressed with the Seio 850. It appears to have less force than my Aqua clear pump. Yes, I did adjust the flow control. I was expecting more force since it has a higher GPH rate than the Aqua clear.

I like the broad broadcast of the water flow but the pressure dissipates at a shorter distance than the Aqua clear.
