So, here are today's shots of Sable and Delight's Blue Skye Warrior, taken while we were loading fresh hay into barn (we got up around 400 bales--6 pickups and one flat trailer!!). BTW, the barn was built of virgin timber over 100 years ago, and is still strong and sturdy, never needing paint.

Thinking of nicknaming him ACE (for AC, of course!!) as a skye warrior, or fighter pilot, is an Ace. He's named in the Tennessee Walking Horse tradition after his sire, Delight the Blue, and then I honored my father, a true ace fighter pilot who still flies, instructs, and restores planes at 76 (just received his annual FAA rating yet again).

This little guy has real heart, and has pulled through certain death into being a healthy happy kid. Wish you could see him running around--he's getting his land legs, and is absolutely delightful. He's got the TWH "shake and bake" walk, nodding his head and overstriding--just like his full sister Rose, my 3 yo baby.
Once again, thanks to all of you who offered encouragement, good energy and thoughts, prayers, and all else. In a couple of years (if I can remember LOL) I'll post pix of him with his sister, and in saddle. Happy trails!!!~Renee

Awwwww. I just want to rub that soft little nose of his! Is there anything softer to feel than a horses nose?? (Horse people know what I mean)

Rosita...give that guy and his brave momma nice little smooches on their soft spots for me. What beauties! You should be proud of getting the little man thru his rough start.

he's beautiful, Rosi!!!

Very nice Rosita!

Rosita, your fish are weird... he he he

Being serious, what a beatiful horse. My grandad used to have horses but I never had the chance to see them.

Nice looking colt, Renee. Great legs on him.

I love those super long gaskins -- wow, he's gonna be long-strided for sure and he's got a great croup and awesome pasterns. He get those legs from his sire? His mom looks shorter in the pasterns and she has a longer shoulder.

I'm not well up on TWs, but he has great conformation regardless of breed.

To answer the question about anything being softer than a horse's nose...I need give a resounding "no!". That little spot behind the nostril, where it dips in, has to be the softest thing ever. Better than cashmere. Love it.

Glad he's doing better, Rosita!

Makes me miss our horses...well...it's down to horse (singular) now:( Shawna broke her leg two winters ago and had to be put down. I still forget she's gone sometimes. She was a Tennesee walker, too. When she was younger, her job was to give small children riding lessons. And then Dillon....I can't even go in my mom's barn/field anymore. He has cancer and it makes me too sad to think about. Sweetest horse ever. He was horribly abused when we got him; headshy like you wouldn't believe with scars all over. He got much better after a year or so, though, and doesn't always freak when you try to touch his neck or face. He loves my mom a lot...he lets her do whatever to him.

Anyway, sorry to hijack.
