View Full Version : Water test strips
I copied this from my post in the equipment forum to see if I get any more responses here:
I know that the paper test strips aren't as accurate as other kinds of kits, but I've developed a liking for them anyway. So far, I've tried some of the Mardel strips, but I'd like to hear what other strip users have to say about the different brands.

I think I have the Jungle ones, I should check, but when I just need a rough estimation or I'm running short on time (which really is no excuse) and I can't use my SeaChem ones, they come in real handy.

Amy, I like the paper test strips - and there was a thread recently here about test kit accuracy in which jschmidt put forth the idea that absolute precision isn't really needed - which I concurred with.
the point being that you typically do not need to measure anything in your tank to an exact spec. Quite frankly, anyone who says they can read a liquid reagent test result measuring the color in some small water sample against that of a printed card with any more accuracy than a paper test strip provides is IMO all wet.
So paper test strips IMO work very well , they are extremely easy to use and read, and are accurate for our needs. I also use the Mardel brand and have in the past used the Jungle Quick Dip kits as well. Both are fine IMO
