Here is the problem:

I had an order of 25 juvinile Ps. Saulosi arrive today, and my nitrites in my fishless cycle are stuck high on the scale. I mistakingly had not let the test kit sit long enough, so I originally thought the nitrites were much lower than they really are. They started showing up just over a week ago.

I have now done 2 large water changes and the level is still above 1ppm.

I don't really know what else to do at this point. I am going to do another water change and try to bring it lower still but then what do I do???

I mean if I have the fish in the tank and do water changes to keep it under .5ppm, will the tank still continue to and finish its cycle?

Please Help!!!!

when I tried a fishless cycle, I had a hard time getting the nitrites to subside as well. water changes was the only thing I was able to do to get things under control. What type of water conditioner(s) are you using? I've heard some products like ammo-lock or some others may alter the test kit's readings so it's possible you are reading nitrites without actually having nitrites. Kyle
