algea build up in sump

Hi,

I've noticed that my 65 wet/dry filter's sump is growing algea. Also the return tube to the tank is growing algea.

When I turn off the filter to do my water change and turn it back on all the alga gets forced out and flows into the tank; I hate this!:mad:

IS the algea growth normal?
 
Algae in small amounts isn't a big deal, it just shows you have a healthy tank. Huge amounts of algae, or green water algaes, can be a problem.

Cleaning all the tubes in my tank is part of my maintenance routine. Doesn't have to be done often, I think I usually clean mine about once every 6 months, or as needed.
