I added 2 more damsels today a 2 didnt look right so i disposed of them (RIP) So i added 2 new ones. WELL to my suprise the 1 original one left didnt take to them right of way. I was looking in my tank and i was like "WOW Where did that black damsel come from" Well the one damsel's fin was all perched up and he was BLACK. not slightly black or a little black but dark as night black i watched him for a moment he calmed down fins went down and he slowly changed back to bright *** blue. Not tell me is that normal or do i just have a special magical(LOL) fish

I think I can see where this one is going to go.

Saltyone,
I think you will probably notice that there are very few people here that will cull fish out without trying to save them through medication etc. even if they are just damsels. They are still fish. I just wanted to say that as you will probably get a few negative responses to this thread.

As far as your damsel changing color, yes this is normal. Your damsel was very stressed and showing it.

First off, "not looking right" isn't grounds to kill a fish. If you aren't sure if anything is wrong, ask first. Your time and money aside, you unnecessarily killed a couple living things here when a little patience and the foresight to ask would have made all the difference.

You will find that most fish change color as a response to stress, changing light conditions (day vs night colors) or as a response to other fish (mating or aggression shows). Your damsels were probably just stressed about the transition to the new tank. Have some patience...most of us wouldn't last long if we all got flushed down the toilet every time we were having a stressful day. ;)

I did NOT kill fish that just changed color that was besides the point I killed 2 5.00 damsels that have been sick that i have been treating that would not get better and before i let some a veryt cheap fish kill everything else in my tank i figured better to loss ten dollars that a few hundred
