I have a fish that I have kept for 10 year's. I have never seen a picture in any of my book's that look just like it. When I bought it it was about 2 inch's long. It it now about 24 inch's. At first glance it appear's to be a Pacu. It is colored like a pacu and shaped the same. The mouth is very different. The mouth is not as underslung and more jutting. It has a double row of very sharp triangular large teeth. The lower lip is very thick and extend's well beyond the mouth on either side. When it was small it was black with a red belly and pectoral fin's. It will attack and kill any fish that is put in with it. I keep it because it has become a real pet. It recognize's my familly and I and will stick it's mouth out of the water when it see's us coming, begging for food. I can reach in the water and pet it and rub it's head and it does'nt mind. When I clean it's tank I just reach in and push him out of the way. However you have to be careful for if it is in a bad mood it will go after your hand like he want's to eat it. When it was only about 10 inch's long I watched it simply close it's mouth on a air stone and bit it in two then spit out the other halve. It is not a Piranha I have had several, but it does resemble one though.
I believe it is some variety of Colossma. I would like to know if anyone has seen one or kept one like it
Thank's
Ron
