Does anyone have any experience with these fish or know any general information? The LFS had adults listed as 2 inches but one website had 6 inches. I just put 6 in my 10 gallon and I am very worried. I appreciate any help. I will need to return them ASAP if they are not the size they listed.

WOW! I just looked at all the fish. The black spot on the tail associated with Gold tetras is starting to appear. I am so relieved. I read that the black spot will completely disappear and vanish when the fish are stressed or scared. It makes sense because they have been at the fish store and now in my tank for 24 hours. I feel so much better!

2 inches or slightly over is tops, unless they are in a pool. I had a school of 5 for several years in a 46 gal. tank, and none ever got bigger than that. Web sites are filled with bad information, including some that are believed to be professional and definitive. The errors become self-replicating, as one data base picks up bad info from another, ad infinitum.

Do you think 6 gold tetras in a 10 gallon planted tank is too many. I am very diligent with water changes, checking water parameters, ect.

No, unless there are a lot of other fish besides the tetras.. I'd say about three similar sized fish, plus the tetras, would be the max I'd try in a ten, assuming reasonable water circulation from a small filter. Brass Tetras are very hardy, once settled in.
