I noticed at pet smart that the young bumble bee's they have are solid yellow....no stripes.

Were they labelled wrong?? or do they get their stripes when they're bigger??

my friend had a bumble bee that he bought without distinct stripes but as it got older the stripes started to appear but it was killed by a convict in a 20g tank at about 4"

My first thought was that sometimes PetSmart labels tanks as "Mixed Africans". They do this a lot and many of the fish look like hybrids. Could that be the case? I haven't seen bumble bees that didn't have some stripes.

nope, it was a tank labeled only as "bumble bee cichlids" and had the picture of a female adult and everything.....

the fish in the tank were all about 1.5" and solid yellow...no stripes...but had the same shape and look as the adult bumble bee's I'm used to.
