Can anyone tell me how to attach driftwood to slate or flat piece of rock to prevent it from floating? Thanks.

silicon is one option, the other option, which I used, is to attatch fishing weights to the driftwood. That will keep it sunk until the wood gets waterlogged. once that happens it will sink on its own and you can take off the weights. It took about 3 months or so for my driftwood to get waterlogged enough to sink. HTH

Never Come Apart

I think the best option would be to get a masonry drill bit from the hardware store and drill through the slate and fasten it using stainless steel wood screws {also found at most hardware stores}. Masonry bits go thorough slate quite easily, just be sure not press too hard as to not crack the slate, press firmly buy let the drill bit do the work.

I use tile rather than slate which I found my tile and glass bits would not even dent. You can find tiles in sizes as small as 1in x 1in an up. I even have a 12x12x1 tile used on a big log.

I would stay away form fishing weights, they're usually made of lead and may leach into the water. May be a long shot, but why take chances?

Slate tends to be brittle, yet easy to drill through. A stainless steel screw, available at HD or Lowes works perfectly.

well like i said the weights were only attatched to the wood for about 3 months. that was well over a year ago and nothing detrimental has happened to my fish.
