Hello! Im getting a JD to put in my 37 gallon tall. I already have it laid out in decor. Since the JD will be the only fish in the tank, I was wondering if I need to change the layout. What I have are 2 fake amazon plants, a large plastic root system, and a ceramic black cave. Do I need to remove anything?? Also, could I keep any bottom dwellers (pleco, synadotis, ???) with the guy??? Thanks!!
Not too sure how big your ceramic black cave is... Do you perhaps have a picture? Do you have plans for another tank? I don't think I'd put a fully grown JD in with tiger barbs (if its already an adult). If you're getting a small one, then you shouldn't have any problems for a while. And yea your bottom feeders will be fine.

yea are you gonna put it in the 37g in ur signature? if so you may have conflicts with the other fish (tiger barbs, cories, etc.)

Sorry it has taken so long to reply back, I don't have access to the internet at my place yet. Anywho, I ditched the JD idea and thought a green severeum would be cool. She is only 2 to 3 inches at the moment. She is a very nice looking fish and is very healthy. I find her to be little on the shy side, but that's typical of these fish. I was kinda wondering if getting a mate or maybe some other smaller tankmates would help livin' her up a little. At least I think it is a female. The bands on the body are not very visible and the dorsal and anal fins are round, not pointy. Plus, the band right in front of her tail is black. From this, I think I have a female. Thanks for the input and sorry for the confusion.
You could try some small hardy schoolers (i.e. Tetras). Typically Cichlids like schoolers (or something) to chase... And the tetras will school more effectivly. :D
