Snails during fishless cycle?

I added some rocks from a LFS, about 3 days ago. Today I noticed a snail, and a white dot on a piece of driftwood. Will he be ok with 5ppm ammonia in the water?
I also noticed I have a a plant that has grabed onto the wood, I guess it came with the rocks also. Its not algae because I can see the roots. Think its java fern or moss?

It looks like it might be a trumpet snail. Is this a bad thing?
Anyone have links to where I can Identify it.

Well it probably came in with your plant... (Snails like to ride into tanks). As for links, I'll look for some.

I didn't buy the plant either, he came for a ride when I got the gravel. :)
