To all,

Is there anything I should use to rinse out the new filter's parts before incorporating it into the aquarium's environment? It's a penguin 200 with all plastic parts, but i'm adding it to an established, inhabited, freshwater system. I'd hate to add anything harmful to the existing swimmers. I cleaned the gravel and gave the tank a 30% water change about a 10 days ago so now would probably be a good time to prevent any bacterial bloom from occuring.

Many thanks, be well,

Elliot

Rinse it out in declorinated water and you should be fine. If you are adding carbon make sure rinse it just as stated in the instructions that come with it.

I agree with Jericho. Main thing is to make sure that there is no dust or anything like that on the parts. I added 2 Penguin Powerheads to my tank some 3 months ago and all I did was a simple rinse. I have not had any problems with them and before all I had was a simple HOB filter.
