I have a 180 gallon that I am going to begin cycling tomorrow. so it is now time to give some thought as to what in the world i am going to put in this monster tank. My first thought was maybe an arrowana and a ray but im not sure if the tank is large enough for a full grown arro. then i thought maybe a dovii but again i dont think the tank will be large enough. However maybe a pair of jags or devils is possible. Decisions, decisions, good thing i have a few weeks to figure this out. So what would you do with a 180?

im moving my festae and Midas out of my 220 and making it a cichlid community tank. I decided id rather have a buch of nice lookin stuff in the tank rather than two big big fish. i an putting in
1 Geophagus steindarchneri
1 Thorichthys aureus 'blue'
1 Archocentrus centrarchus
2 Copora nicaraguense (pair)
1 Heros appendiculatus
1 h. temporalis
1 veija sysnspilum
10 clown loaches
1 Red-tailed shark
1 common pleco
so you can always do something like that as well on a smaller scale.

I would think an arro would definately fit inside of yoru 180. I had a huge 26" boy in a 100 gallon, and he was very healthy, and very friendly.
Arro's are adorable :D

Thank god I have some time to decide. Everytime I think I figure out what i want to stock, I change my mind and start all over again. Oh well, the torture of having a large tank, lol, :D

I agree with the idea of making it a cichlid community rather than 1 or 2 monsters. Personally I'd make a community of eartheatars.
I have Steindachneri, Jurapari, Balzanii, Brasiliensis and Surinamensis in my SA tanks. They are wonderful to watch and are a very social cichlid. They prefer to be kept with a group of at least 6 eartheaters, in which they exhibit social behaviour, and can become listless in absence of fellow species. Anyway, thats what I'd do with a spare 180 gallon!
My suggestion would be: Send it to me:D
For bigger fish you are probably looking at 1-3 cichlids that max out at 14-18" in which case your deco will be mostly wood , rocks and artificial plants.
Or you could go with planted which would look really cool (not to mention good for the fishes health and stock Altum, Scalare, Meeki or discus to mention a few larger cichlids that won't rearrange the tank much.
Or set up an african reef with lots of colorful fish.
The possibilities are endless - too much work to decide so just send it to me:cool: .
