Does anyone know if RTS are effective algae eaters? They seem to be in the same family as SAE(?) and have the same type of mouth and "whiskers". My RTS is constantly grazing on all surfaces very similar to a SAE. So far there have not been any problems between my RTS and 2 SAE's in a 55g heavily planted tank.

As far as I know, these guys are not effective algae eaters in the same sense that SAE's are. These sharks prefer a variety of foods from veggies to dry flakes, to live or frozen foods. As far as I know, while they may look as if they are snacking on the algae, this is in no way their main diet. Also, I've never had a problem with my RTS and SAE since they've been put together. I believe if the RTS is going to be aggressive, it will morfe than likely be withthat of his own kind or one that closely resembles itself.
