Depending on how my 10 gallon goes, I'm thinking of slowly making the switch over to live plants in my 20 gallon tanks as well. These would be low light tanks for sure (maybe 1.5 to 2 wpg at most) and I'm interested to see some pictures of low light tanks to potentially see what I could do with mine.

not enough lights so the hairgrass is going straight up :o :o

What kind of substrate you got there?

55 gallon tank....80 watt light strip. It really needs to be a little higher, but I'm getting by.
Plants lt to right: in the far lt corner is a nice grove of red wendti crypt. It doesn't show well in the pic. next is water sprite, then an Amazon sword..actually 2. In front and to the side of the smaller sword is tropical sunset hygro, and there is some giant leaf hygro to the far rt. interspersed is a few spiral val plants, and along the foreground dwarf sag. At the top...duckweed
This tank has been going since March of 05.
I have fluorite and sand for a substrate, petrified wood and coconut caves for decs and fish hiding places. I have to keep the plants high or the gouramis freak out every time someone walks past the tank.

75 gallon. The light as a low light was 2 watts per gallon. Standard light strips sold with tanks. Used plant bulbs (get them at Home Depot or equiv. and they are a lot cheaper than at the lfs).

don't recall f there was a shot of a planted 40 breeder at the site listed above. Same look really--it was all of abot 1.5 wpg.

i have fallen in love with pressurized CO2 and 4+ wpg though. Had i been smarter i would have just jumped into that when i decided to start planting tanks.

nursie, i hope you don't use your gloves when looking for purple string.

Here's a 10 gallon planted betta tank (plants still growing in)...
