I checked my protein skimmer and found hundres of little white sacs built up inside of it. They were about the size of an erasure on a pencil and oval shaped. They were stuck to the sides and were soft. I took apart my skimmer and cleaned them off but I had no clue what they were. Anyone ever have anything like this before?

Yep--those are sponges. Not a big deal, not harmful. They populate darker areas where there's good current--inside a skimmer certainly fits! As long as they don't impede flow, we just leave them alone. Cleaning them off won't hurt, but they will come back.

;)
They wouldn't keep me around if I didn't at least try. Glad to be of assistance!
