55G or 30G tank for 4 puffers & a few mates?

55--otherwise, you're probably going to have some serious aggression issues with the puffers.

orion g, you saying puffers will get aggresive with each other or with other fish? if with others, i'm not worried 'cuz they will be fast moving tetras and hatchets that will roam the top. puffers never mess with plecos, either.

Both. You may also want to know that the GSP are brackish to full marine fish, and will be prone to ailments if kept in FW.

Those tetras won't last long against those green spotted puffers. They may not seem like it but they can outrun those tetras if they want too. After about 5 months those Green spotted puffers are going to get VERY touchy about their territory and then "gulp!" they'll start picking off those tetras. Those greens spotted puffers will be needing a 55g alone just to be happy, forget the tankmates and go with just the puffers in a brackish tank, you'll be happier in the end. I once went the same route as you and found out the hard way =). I've now got my green spotted puffer in a 75g with two mono argentus with an sg of 1.007 and rising.

Your puffers will mess with anything and everything, they are EXTREMELY curious towards everything.
