I am going to be adding some plants to my tank this weekend.. Right now I have a variety of fish and once I get it planted I dont want it destroyed.. So tell me what fish need to go and what would be some good fish to get... I have a 55g... I have an african butterfly... 1 african blue ciclid, 1 tiger barb, 1 small oscar, 1 small red belly pacu, 1 small bala shark, a clown loach, a pleco, and some guppies. I like all of my fish but i know I cant keep them all in there...
What fish will not uproot live plants

OMG!!! You have an Oscar & a Pacu in a 55 Gal???
PLEASE...do those fish a favor and fine homes for them in much bigger tanks! the Pacu will get HUGE and will outgrow the 55 Gal in no time!
Also, the mix of African & South American cichlids may not be the best as the water requirements are much different. SA cichlids prefer softer water with lower pH.
The 55 Gal is a good size for SA/CA Dwarf cichlids & Plants. If you're going planted, you may want to look at the smaller species like keyholes and convicts. If you want to keep the Africans, then planted will most likely NOT be a good option for you.
A Suggestion for a planted 55 would be Either Apistos or Rams, Bristlenose Pleccos, your choice of tetras, pencilfish, & perhaps some Hatchet fish for the top.

See my above post for a few ideas. Also, you may want to check out http://www.cichlid-forum.com/ and look at the species profiles. there is a wide range of smaller cichlids out there. Alot depends if you want SA/CA or Afircan and then there's peacefull versus agressive.
As for the botton feeders...Bristlenose pleccos stay relatively small(about 4" as adult) and most cories are good for cleanup crew.
