Currently I have a 120 Gallon Reef tank that has been set up for over 2 years now. Over that coarse of time rocks have shifted and fallen. I was wondering what is the risk vs reward of breaking down my reef and rebuilding it both to the fish and corals? It still looks ok but due to the way much of it has shifted I have no room for any other corals. I can live with it the way it is currently but I have this week off work so rearraning was an option. Thanks for your imput.

I have a much smaller reef tank (20g) that has been up and running for over 4 years now with approximately 40 pounds of live rock...I have rearranged the rock a few times over the years, primarily for the same reason you want to (to fit in more corals). I have found that each time I fiddle with it, I tend to "open it up" more, which creates less dead spots for better circulation, more room between the rock and the glass, and more pockets/surfaces for corals. I am careful not to mess with the existing corals too much, and the next day, when everything settles, it always looks better and I'm glad I made the effort. I am about to rearrange the tank again, this time in conjunction with adding a chiller unit due to too much temp fluctuation in the summer - I'm looking forward to making the tank look even better!
