hey guys well im new here so first off my name is Anthony, well i've been dealing with FW tanks for a few years now and got a 10 gallon tank to start a salt walter setup, i got crushed coral for the substrate, and i also used instant ocean and the salinity is almost perfect, i have a regular bio wheel filter and regular lighting, i had the water running for about a month, then decided to buy a damsel the first 2 days he was fine but 2nite when i got home he was at the bottom of the tank, i hope this doesnt mean he is dying.. well anyways i know i have to buy a test kit for the nitrates and stuff, but can anyone help me in telling me what i should do to setup my 10 gal as a salt water in case this damsel dies so i can do it right? thanks in advance

Did you cycle to tank?

Can you see any noticeable diseases on your damsel?

Without knowing your water parameters, I can't help you out very much.

You should really get that crushed coral out of there. Nitrate factory waiting to happen.
You need to be monitoring your ammonia and nitrites and when they come down to 0 only then can you add a fish.
How much live rock do you have?

i dont have any live rock all i have is the crushed coral and the damsel, he seemed fine today after i added an air pump, but i dunno should i do an under gravel filter? and should i get a live rock? and no i dont see any noticable disease on the fish.

outta topic i have a 29 gallon fish tank with 2 columbian sharks when i sell them i want to turn the tank into salt water so im practacing basically with that 10 gallon so that i can do everything right when i convert my 29
