Filstar XP3, Fluval 404, or spring for a Eheim. Any other recommendations? Did I spell that right?

I would go with Filstar XP3. I have the a Filstar XP3 and 3 Fluval 404's. IMHO the Filstar does a lot better job at mechanical filteration. When I need to replace my Fluvals I'm going with the Filstar. I have no experience with the Ehiem.

I have an Eheim and it's am awesome filter, but you'll get the most bang for your buck with the Filstar XP3.

I just put a Filstar XP1 in my 29g and I am totally impressed with the results...Instructions suck, but at least it had pictures, lol....Easy to prime and very quiet.....When I get my 125g tank, I plan to use a Filstar for it as well....Good Luck :)

My Eheim 2213 had crappy instructions but excellent pictures. With those instructions and help from people here I was able to set it up without much trouble.
I'm using a homemade prefilter with it, and after only one day of operation I am completely sold both on canister filters and prefilters for the strainer. The prefilter already has a bunch of gunk on it and it's only been one day! The water is also much clearer than it was with my Aquaclear 150. It took my rummies and sparkling gourami a little while to get used to the current, but now they are as happy as a clam. I have never seen such bright colors from them before!!
I would get another Eheim in an instant! When looking at prices, keep in mind that BigAl's beats any online competitor's price by 5%. I used that myself. Once I decided for sure what filter I wanted, I searched for about 10 minutes (dial-up sucks :) ) using Google and found a lower price on the 2213. After they beat their price, I ended up paying $64.55 for it. Plus they've had excellent customer service IME and there's no sales tax to boot!

I love my Eheim too. It is really easy to clean and the hoses don't get really gunky for a long time.

1 xP3/fluval 404 will do fine. Don't know anything about the Eheims though.
The Eheim 2213 is good for aquaria up to 60 gallons.
