I want like 1 oddball fish like some kind of loach or fish that looks weird and it gots to be community.

Glass fish but I think they need to be in groups, upside down catfish and I would say a dragon goby if you have brackish water.

glassfish are boring IMO. In my tank they sit at the top (they don't like the light) and hardly move. Its hard to even see them because they're up the corner. Cool looking, yes, but in a larger tank they're just boring IMO.

I vote for the loach. I've always liked them, and they're not that expensive either.

Try a rubber worm. actually they are an amphibian, but I have been keeping one for 3 years. I think it is about as odd as you will find. Mine is very peaceful and lives in my planted 125g discus tank.

I just read an article on the rubber worms in a magazine earlier today. They really are neat but are amphibious so they need really good water conditions considering it is absorbed by their skin. I was actually wishing I had a store nearby that sold them after I read the article. I read it in the latest issue of Tropical Fish Hobbyist. I don't think you'll find anything more odd than a rubber worm for your community tank! How big is the tank?

Well a few of the odball fish (imo) I have had have been an african butterfly which floates along near the top and loves to eat insects, a dojo loach (gold dojo for good contrast against dark substrates/backgrounds) but ideally they should be in a group although I have kept them singly in the past just fine... hmm guess i dont know many other oddballs that are active in the middle of the tank. There are some neat plecos and cats but most get rather large and hide most of the time anyways. My upside-down cats are over two years old and really havent ever been seen out n about in the tank - they are always hiding. The elephant nose is definately an odball but I have heard they like really calm tankmates or they get stressed. Well, good luck.

Glass fish (Chanda ranga especially) will kill your tetras, upside down catfish (if its the asian kind) is a thorough predator - simply keep away from it. I have lost several expensive fish by the time I realised who the killer was.

elephant nose need prestige water. I hear they use them in Germany to test water quality.
