By the by, Tanganyika would be the name for that East African lake, and not all Cichlids are lacustrine (lake-dwelling). Many live in rivers and are said to be riverine.
You would need to do a lot of work to properly care for riverine Cichlids, especially "Apistos", as their water quality needs are much more precise than those of many other fish...that is, they can only tolerate a small range for pH, hardness, et cetera. (Oft-bred riverine Cichlids which are far-removed from the wild-type, such as your garden-variety Oscar and Krib, have more tolerance for variation in pH, DH, KH, and GH.)
