I am designing in 3D my tank setup.
Here is a unfinished image;

I have 3 ungravel plates with cell pore on top of the plates. Then I have fine mesh (landscaping screen) then I have a mix of sand, M2 Substrates, and Arag-Alive.

My next project is to make artifical Live rock structure with coral inserts.

Plants: I have Caulerpa prolifera covering about 40% of the bottom, along with Dictyota verde and Sargassum hystrix.

This gives the fish a chance to hunt for their food, ie shrimp and feeder fish.
Also give cover and sleeping spots ( the puffers rest/sleep in the Caulerpa prolifera.

1.0135 SG

I also have Astraea tecta living in my tank. I have found that the puffers can't bite through the shells and they don't stick out enough to get nipped.

astrea snails require an sg of 1.023-1.025 though how are they surviving at an sg that low?

I got some turbo snails and they went into the tank and didn't even move they just died right there. I'm at 1.014

I had a turbo snail in my 6gal and moved it to my larger tank.
Once in there it lasted about three days. Then the puffers found out what it was and circled around it and then went in for the kill. Nipped it in the head, which was sticking out grazing. It coiled into its shell and died. The puffers kept nipping at the opening but couldn't get threw the mantle (the little trap-door).

I saw that http://www.liveaquaria.com (>Invertebrates>Snails) has Nerite Snail for sale, but "This item is temporarily unavailable. Items arrive daily, so please check back soon. "

My local produce store (Produce World) was selling live nerite snails, 1 lb/$3.55.

My puffers never even got a chance to nip at it, they just went into their shells and that was it.
