how many severums?

stocking a new 150gal (72x18x28") & was wondering how many Severums I can get without overcrowding? Looking to get both green & gold. Would 3 of each be ok? No plans to establish breeding pairs. Tankmates would be (3) 3" bala sharks & a few Geophagus. (probably surinamensis)

I think 2 of each will be ok.... As any other Cichlid the Sevs are very territorial by keeping the number down you let them stablish their own territory and your tank will be more peaceful...
 
with severums your intent on breeding pairs is really secondary. Be prepared to move females as they grow and decide to see what they want to do. Males can be particularly harsh to females as they decide if the "pair" is a good one.
 
I have a big gold severum that I am selling because he is so agressive. They are not as peaceful as they seem. My 8" gold sev nearly killed a 10" marbled pim! Good luck with yours and if your looking for a big gold hit me up and we can work out a deal ;) .
