I've had two 20g SW aquariums for over a year now and have had an empty 30g sitting around, so naturally I wanted to combine them into the larger tank.

I built my own stand out of 2x4s (no one carried a 36" tank stand), and combined the LR and LS from both tanks. My only problem was deciding what fish I wanted to keep in this tank. For now I have a Valentini Toby, a Yellow Wrasse, a Cryptic Sixline Wrasse, and an Ocellaris Clown. I took my Fridmani Pseudo back to the LFS because it would be too aggressive for the wrasses. I started another thread about what fish to add (assuming I remove the clown fish). If I decide to make a change I will propbably add a Harlequin or Macneill's Basslet.

Anyways, here is what I have so far. Hope you like it!

That's sweet it will only get better from here . Your rock will purple up over the next few months and more critters will show up. Imo this is one of the most fun/challenging times in a new tanks life.

Yeah, I'm pretty pumped. Like I said the two tanks that I combined to make this one had been running for about a year. I only have started to see pink and purple coraline algae in the last month or so, so I'm pleased to finally see some color. I added a single mushroom coral to see how it would fair with my puffer, and it has since multiplyed into three. Things are looking good now, and I am almost finished making changes, with the exception of swithching the clown for another type of fish (hawk or basslet).

If you want your coralline algae (purple algae) to grow faster all you have to do is add purple up to your aquarium. I add the correct amount to my aquarium every day and i have been blooming coralline algae since day one.

What sort of fish do you have ? Are you planning on adding any inverts?
