Hey there guys I got alot of info from here so now I thought I would tell ya guys about my tank now. Its a 100g tank with a coralife 220 skimmer, but heres the thing I will get some stuff about having. Filter wise im running 2 emperor 400s. I know I know, but every store around here tells me not to get a cannister and that the 2 emperors will be just fine. Ok heres the fish 2 green chromis, 1 cowfish longhorn, 1 scooter blenny, 1 firefish, 2 percula clownfish, 1 horseshoe crab, 1 coral beauty angel, 1 cleaner shrimp. We also have the cleaner crew and around 100lbs of live fiji rock. Thats my tank for now. Tell me what you guys think. I would love to hear some feedback. Thanks

It looks pretty good to me, but if you have 100 lbs of live rock, all you need the emperor 400's for is water circulation. You would be better off taking out the filter pad, because after a while they can be a source for high nitrates. The rock and cleaning crew will do the heavy lifting as long as the water has enough circulation.

I would get rid of the emperors and get a couple really good powerheads to add water movement and you will be fine

Yup, me to lorna unless of course your tank is overstocked. If you can get a cannister cheaper and it has more pump power but it by all means. Just run it empty to avoid nitrate prblms.

you just need pumps they are right...
I would remove one of the Emps and use one for water circulation without the filter in it until you cleaned the sides of the tank or got the water nasty then you could run a carbon filter in it to clean up the water quickly then just take it right off.. Really the filters end up trapping waste and raising your nitrates. You live rock is your filter.. the bacteria that will grow inside it will use up the stuff your filter will just be trapping...

you just need circulation.. I have a 100 gallon too btw. great size tank.

In a reef you want to turn that water over alot.. Iw ould be shooting for atleast 10 times total circualtion in an hour.. this means 2 500 gph pumps or
3 250s plus your skimmer..
