You have a Caterpillar in your tank? Are you certain that the plants that you have are aquatic plants? A lot of lfs like to sell terrestrial plants for aquatic, which is why I'm asking (please don't get offended).

Can you take a picture of this critter? Or have you killed it? I'm curious to know what it is. When you buy plants, you will get all sorts of creepy crawlies on them (snails, worms, etc.). Be prepared for that.

I've had what I believed to be leaf cutter moth larvas in my tank before, which behaved in a similar manner. I found them cutting up my baby tears and making a sheath out of it to hide in, there also appeared to be an air bubble within it. I thought I caught them all but did end up finding a moth under the hood.

Actually sword plants can be grown both submersed and emersed from what I understand. I'd like to see a picture of what you found in your tank myself. I would highly doubt it is a caterpillar underwater, but then I have to remind myself of just how much I don't know LOL. Phanmc's idea about it being a larvae of some sort is probably right in this case I would think. Erm wait isn't a caterpillar a larvae by definition? Sigh I think I'll stop now.

ok i will have to wait to get a picture, because the camera i have is only 2 megapixel, my bro comes back from vacation in 2 days, i will use his 8.5 megapixel. but the larva/caterpiller is still alive i beleive, i put him in a separate tank with a few of teh cut up leafs, and i will describe it till i get a picture. ok so its head is yellowish orange, and its body is the same tint as the amazon sword, their is no air bubble in it, and its slightly fuzzy like a caterpillar, ive searched teh tank, but found no sign of butterfly moth, anything of that sort. btu i will get u a picture everyone, buts its not going to be the best.

im not goign to kill it, i want to see what it might turn into. everyone i showed ( bro, parents, friends, and fish store owner) they all said it looked like a caterpiller. but you never know
