I've decided to put dwarf hairgrass in my 10g tank to act as a sort of carpet. I have several concerns:

1. will I still be able to vaccum the tank to clear debris from floor with my usual 20% water changes?

2. Will dwarf hairgrass spread out across the bottom of the tank like a carpet even if I only have a very fine gravel substrate (no laterite, about 1.5inches thick)

3. Will I need CO2 injection for a such a small tank? I have a power filter and airstone in the tank

4. any other concerns that some of you may have? please help. there are pictures of my tank in other posts

1. You don't gravel vac the area that is planted, just brush the vac over the hairgrass to pick up any debirs there, the rest will become fertilizer for the hairgrass.

2. Yes, it'll grow fine if you supply enough nutrient in the water.

3. CO2 will help any tank, regardless of size or lighting. Whether you need to supply CO2 depends on your light, over 2wpg and it almost becomes a necessity. You can also Flourish Excel to substitute for CO2.

4. Hairgrass needs a good amount of light, over 2wpg for a 10 gallon tank or probably closer to 3wpg.
