I've had my balas for 5 months now and they always stayed together, but never anything like they are doing now, now they always rub up on each other and chase each other around the tank, is this normal behavior or is it something serious.

What size is your tank and how large are the balas atm? If I'm thinking right balas can get to about 10" and a group of five would probably like being in a tank of at least 100g.

Yes how big is your tank. Balas grow very large and need large tanks to be happy. If there is something wrong with the water this could be a sign. Also Bala sharks can grow up to 14" when full grown.

What are your water prams (pH, Ammonia, NitrIte, NatrAte)?
What size is the tank?
How many fish and what kind are in the tank?
How often do you do water changes and how much do you change?

its way to small of a tank. i would take them back. they are schooling fish and should be kept in groups of 6 or more.

Yes I agree. If it is only a 20g tank then you need a much larger tank. Most likely it is due to them trying to dominate the tank. They don't have enough area in the tank so they are going to get mean twords each other and the other fish in the tank. My suggestion would be to get a bigger tank or see if someone else has a better home for them.

I did the same thing when I first started this hobby. I had 2 Bala Sharks in a 10 gallon and I found out that was a big no no. I quickly learned that some fish just shouldn't be sold and the Bala shark is one of them. They just require a tank size that most people will never have.

wow, the strange thing is, it stopped after i changed the water, now they are all peaceful and and gliding around and stuff, maybe it was my water levels. and yes, i am going to get a much bigger tank soon

still to small
