Hi everyone,
I have a betta named "Rocky" and keep him in a tank in my office. I'm getting a bit worried about the temp. variations: When I get in in the morning the temp. is 70 and when I leave it's 80. I also worry about the temp. on the weekend since I have no way of knowing what it is. Should I be worried? I don't want to get him sick. If you do suggest that I take him home - how would I do that?? I have an hour and 1/2 subway ride, so any suggestions on how I can get him home (if I need to) would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks again!!

I think that there is too big of a daily temperature range in your office, and that you should bring Rocky to a more climate-controlled environment. Here is how I would do it.

I would double bag him (and some aquarium water, natch), put him in a cooler (which had not been filled with cold stuff beforehand).

I would take the decor out of the tank and probably bag that and put it in the cooler, and hold on to the denuded tank if you need to bring that home for him, but I would also consider having a seperate tank set up at home already.

He should withstand this pretty well, as my Betta has lasted four hours in such sub-standard conditions. (I wasn't going to leave him at school over ChrisTmas break.)

HTH,

Matthew

betta alive after 4 years? they apparently hav an avergae lifespan of about 2 years, and i thought i was doing well keeping one for 3. but still alive at four...keep up the good work!!

oh, and yea, do as matt suggested. but make sure there is air in the bag, and that the ornaments and such do not press against the bags, as they could piece even double bagging.
