 We had to take our dog to the vet today! He wa acting funny yesterday, wouldn't jump on the couch, or walk, he took a "fit" and couldn't even hold his bladder, they think he has a slipped disk in his back, and are saying that he might never walk again. I am waitning on the vet to call after x-rays, and its killing me! hes my big baby, he was in so much pain, and wouldn't let us help him. they gave him steriods and made him comfortable, I just can't handle waiting! .....I have been crying all morn. I hope he will be ok!

I'm sorry- that's no fun at all. if the steriods don't kick in rimadyl might be worth a try- one of mine has intervertebral disk disorder and it worked wonders for him. At any rate, I hope he feels better.

I'm soo sorry, I had to put down both of my eldery cats last year and seeing an animal suffer is heart breaking  Hopefully the drs will be able to help your pup. I did realize though (not to say this is the case with you) that sometimes whats best for the pet is the most hurtful to the human.

Good luck, sending my thoughts and best wishes to your baby.

:( I'm sorry to hear that, and my thoughts are with you and your dog.

I hope wherever I work long-term will let me take sick days if my pet is having a medical emergency.

i am really hoping that I don't have to make that decision!, I know that If he can't walk that would destroy his life, I know that some animals survive and live happily with pet wheel chair, but he is 9, and he loves to ride in the big truck, he loves to play and swim, and I keep thinking whether its selfish to make him live that way or selfish because i wouldn't want him to, I have a female and two pups and two kids here, not to mention the cat, so I am having a lot of issues wondering what to do!

thank you all for your kind words, by the way! I feel foolish a lil being so attached to an animal, but hes like my oldest kid! hes been here first. four four years he was my only baby.

OMG, judge... I don't envy your position at all... I am so sorry to hear the news! It's a tough spot to be in, I'm sure you will do what's best.... we're here for ya, girl...

Hey judge, I'm sincerely not trying to be harsh but confinig your active doggie to some kind of wheelchair device (and let me re-iterate this is just IMHO) I think would be more for your benefit then the pooches. But b4 jumping to those thoughts, wait and see what the full diagnosis is. If you love you doggies like we all know you do, you'll make the right decision when the time comes.

You know you don't have to feel that way with us. We're all animal lovers. There's never such a thing as "just an animal". Pets are adopted children that just happen to be of another species, is how I think of it.
