Heyya folks. I was just curious about how often to feed adult Africans. I know that adult oscars and other large C.A.'s only need to be fed a few times a week. I realized that after two years I feed my adult African 6 times a week. I was wondering if anyone out there fed their's only a few times a week. Thanks everyone.
I keep frontosas and other Tangs and I usually feed them once a day with a day off when I change the water every week. This helps to clean out their digestive tracts.
Don't worry if you happen to forget to feed them for a day-and-a-half. They will be fine. Actually every 36-40 hours is ideal depending on the size of the fish in the tank.

I also usually skip a day a week and sometimes two. I was just curious about overall frequency.

Hi,
Carnivour African Cichlids could be satiated on a large fish meal every 2 or 3 days. Conversely Algal grazers should be fed many small meals of vegetarian flake per day. Also it may be beneficial to have live macro algae growing in a sunlight pond than can be feed every day. If rocks are put in the sunlight pond, they can be taken out, after a couple of weeks and one can be placed in the tank for the fishes to graze upon. When the rock is scraped clean it can be replaced to the pond and another rock of algae can be harvested.
