If I'm trying to run a good clean tank for fish and plants do I need to remove my Bio-Wheel, will it take any minerals or chemicals out of my water that I need?

No, it wil not remove anything other than ammonia and nitrite, wich are two chemicalls you DO NOT want in your aquarium if it has anything other than plants living in it. (ammonia and nitrite are toxic to everything live in your aquarium except plants)

Just to make what dorkfish is saying more clear... Do NOT remove the BioWheel, unless it is replaced with another form of proper biological filtration.

Removal of the wheel will be necessary if you decide to do CO2 injection in the future to help your plants grow.

That's what I was curious about, was the plants. I know it helps the fish, but I was curious about the plants and CO2. I'm probably going to use a liquid form CO2 additive.

The only time the bio-wheel should be taken out is if you have a heavily planted tank and injecting CO2 gas. If you are planning on a moderately planted tank and supplementing it with FLourish Excel, keep the bio-wheel in. The reason people remove the bio-wheel is to prevent CO2 gas off from the additional water agitation that the biowheel generates, Excel does not gas off.
