View Full Version : Marineland 660 Powerhead, Pump Won't Start

I recently purchased a 660 powerhead with quick filter. The first time I used it was fine. After cleaning the filter and restarting the pump I had some trouble getting it started, but once it started it worked fine. Now I have cleaned the filter for a second time and I haven't been able to get the pump to start after about 15 minutes of fiddling.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to reliably restart this type of powerhead pump? TIA!

Mine used to vapor lock all the time after cleaning. When you return it to the tank, tilt it so the intake is pointed up and any air comes out and water goes in, then reattach it.

If you dont want to fool around with moveing it around or unmounting it you stick a piece of airline tubeing over the venturi hole and suck the air out.
