So, there's this person moving. Took her 120g down, put her 20 fish in a bucket and they've been there at least 1 week with a heater. Probably a filter too. Don't really know. She's been trying to get rid of the fish all week & running out of time. So, what do I do ? I agreed to take her fish.

So help me rearrange the fish & tanks. I don't know how to make this work. Do I need to pick up a 55 gallon (found a couple in the ads) or can I make what I have work ? Worst, I'll take the fish to the LFS but doubtful of good care there. My good LFS is moving & closed indefinitely.

The 20 fish I'm picking up tomorrow are:
3 rainbows
1-2 angels (why 1-2? i don't know, maybe 1 is suffocating)
2 gouramis
bunch of pistrella tetras

Look at my signature for current tank + fish info.

Any suggestions, even temporarily, will help since the fish will be here tomorrow. I just need a transformer to get my 220V canister filter running for the 75g. Been planning to separate the goldfish from the mollies.

Thanks

OK, How about this?

75g: 5 mollies, 3 rainbows, 1-2 angels, tetras (14?), 1 pleco
40g: 6" comet
20g: 2 gouramis (haven't seen what kind yet)
10g: planted, 2 platies

Can gouramis go with the others in the 75g ? I'd like the 20g to be a spare qt/hospital tank. Temporarily, thinking to qt the new fish in 20g. Thoughts ?

I'll have to find it...but the rainbows and angels bother me for some reason....

Seems like a lot of stress/fish for a 20 gal qt, but better than the bucket they are in.

Any chance of using the 40 for the qt?

Any chance of you giving away that comet? :o

If its just temporary, go out and get a rubbermaid bin at target for $10

OK, I got the fish. It's actually 28 fish in a bucket for about 9 days with a heater. The water in there felt like 90F. No filter. Does that mean they're REALLY hardy or super hale and hearty ? I just ID'd them except for 1 kind of tetra.

1 Angel
2 Blue Gouramis
2 Boeseman's Rainbowfish
5 Giant Danios

4 Xray tetras
9 Serpae tetras
3 Diamond tetras
3 unknown tetras (black widow? black phantom?)

They were slowly acclimated and are now in a 20 gallon tall, 1 bubble wand, Penguin 200 HOB, bare bottom, 3 fake plants. The tank now looks like an LFS tank, way overstocked. I just found out how fast these guys swim. The Serpae tetras and Angel seem mismatched with the rest. Can they live 1-2 weeks in this setup if I change 20% water every other day ? Would these guys still be overstocked in a 75g ?

One of the rainbowfish has 2 bad scrapes on him. I'm treating with Melafix. He's acting fine so far.

Can someone ID this tetra for me (black widow? black phantom?) ? Fins are really long & flowing.

I could swap the livebearers with these guys but I'll have to have the 75g running first for my comet. But if I have the 75g going, wouldn't it be better for these 28 fast swimmers to go in there first ? I wouldn't want to part with my comet unless there's a really good home for it out there, like a pond where fishing is not allowed. I'll try to look..

the angles might get stressed out since the rainbows are so quick and constantly moving.

Yes, I noticed. I want to move it away somewhere.. still trying figure out how. I'd like to put it with my mollies so at least 1 week qt before I feel comfortable mixing them.

Any suggestions, advice, tips etc welcome.

Thanks.
