OK... Are they a problem and if so how do you get rid of them...
I know the Arrow Crab eats them but he also eats all worms and i have feather dusters that I would rather not die....

I have seen at the stores that there are bristle worm traps... Do they work?
The reason I ask is in the last 2 days I have seen 2 of them at decent size. Any Suggestions of weather to try and get rid of them? or just leave them?

I aked this question to my fav coral guy and he said they get a bad rap. As long as they are no too big, they should not hurt anything. They do help as a clean crew at night. However I have seen posts here on some people who had a bad experience or two. I have seen them in my tank but the largest was maybe 1" stretched while walking up the glass. I would search this forum for bristle worms and read them, there is a lot a good info, you be the judge.

Bristleworms are part of your cleanup crew. I don't understand why they get such a bad reputation. Bw only eat dead or dying things. They are great for cleaning the sand.

thnaks guys I will let them be... i did not know they were good as cleanup crew.... They have not cuased any problems so all the pwer to them :) thnaks

I haven't had any problems with mine so far - but my sw tank has only been 8 months or so.

Does anyone know a way of encouraging your bristle worms to reproduce? I just got a flame scallop and I read that in addition to phytoplankton they will filter bristle worm larva.

I had a ton of bristle worms initially while my tank was cycling but now that my tank has been up for a bit longer the number of them has seems to have dropped off. Does anyone have suggestions?

Thanks

**This is true more than 95% of the time. There are some bristle worms that will feed on living corals but, Ime it's rare.**

The reason that you had so many when you set up your tank was that you had lots of left over food. You'd have to overfeed to encourage them to do that again. I wouldn't advise that. Give your scallops phyto and marine snow.
