Hello all,

I've been reading on this site for months and decided to post. Hopefully I will be more interactive now that I have more time. I casually mentioned to my girlfriend that a fish tank would be a nice birthday present. That was the end of June. She has gone on a rampage with the want ads and we now have one 100 gallon saltwater, 1 55 gallon cichlid, 1 55 gallon community, 1 30 gallon cichlid and 2 ten gallon hospital/quarentine/"this fish is chasing all my other fish" tanks. My main attraction is the saltwater. It used to be in a science room and it came with about 50 lb live rock, 1 spotted damsel, 1 flamefish, and 1 yellow tail damsel. I have a berlin protein skimmer and an aquaclear filter on it. Not sure if that's ideal but it's what I have. We've had it going for about 3 months now and i've added a few things. I now have yellow, tiger stripe and red sea star, 1 lawn mower blenny, 1 yellow tang, 1 mushroom coral random snails, a tiger tail sea cucumber, 2 condy anenomes and a long tentacle anemone. I recently got two percula clowns for the anenomes, however all the did was hang in the corner and constantly swim like they were battling current. After 4 days I noticed the flamefish with one of the percula's in its mouth. After a Hollywood worthy chase, it finally let it go but it was too late. I've got the other clown quarantine now, due to the aggressiveness of the yellow tail damsel and flamefish (the three spotted damsel has moved on) I guess my question is, is this common for the clowns to b harrassed? I am thinking of getting a bigger clown to try to 'protect' the smaller one. Any thoughts?

Hello and welcome to A.C.
Sounds like an interesting tank! The cardinal will eat anything it can get into it's mouth so keep that in mind when you add more fish. Tell me more about your tank how much live rock do you have? How many times per hour does your filter turn your tank over,"the anems would need between around 1500 and 2000 gph. What kind of lights do you have? Please, tell us as much as you can about your tank and it's conditions. Anems can be difficult to keep alive and you might need a little help.
As to the clown well I'd be afraid that you'll have issues with the damsels they are pretty closely related and damsels can be very aggressive. In general it's a bad idea to add closely related species in a reef.
hth and welcome to ac.
